TackleDisInfo Training Package Now Available: Four Modules to Strengthen Digital Literacy

The TackleDisInfo Training Package is now available, offering four practical educational modules designed to help VET educators and trainers strengthen digital literacy, critical thinking and resilience against disinformation.

The four modules cover key areas educators need to address when working with disinformation: understanding how misleading information works, recognising emotional and cognitive influences, verifying online content, and applying these skills in different vocational contexts.

Each module combines key concepts with practical examples, reflection questions and activities that educators can adapt to different learning and professional environments.

Module 1: Understanding Digital Literacy and Disinformation

The first module introduces the foundations of digital literacy and explains the differences between misinformation, disinformation and malinformation.

It explores how misleading information spreads online through social media, algorithms, viral content, bots and fake accounts. The module also introduces basic strategies that educators and learners can use to recognise and respond to unreliable information.

Module 2: Critical Thinking and Emotional Awareness

The second module focuses on the relationship between critical thinking, emotions and cognitive biases.

Disinformation often relies on emotional reactions such as fear, anger or urgency. The module helps participants understand how these reactions can influence the way information is interpreted and shared, while encouraging them to pause, question evidence and reflect before reacting to online content.

Module 3: Practical Tools to Identify and Respond to Disinformation

Module 3 focuses on practical verification skills and fact-checking techniques.

Participants learn how to check sources, cross-check claims, verify images and assess suspicious online content. Through practical exercises and accessible digital tools, educators can strengthen their own verification skills and introduce similar activities into their teaching and training practice.

Module 4: Sector-Specific Challenges and Tailored Strategies

The final module examines how disinformation can affect different vocational and professional sectors.

Using examples from areas such as healthcare, social care, technical trades, renewable energy and education, the module shows how misleading narratives can influence professional decisions, public trust and perceptions of different sectors.

It also provides activities that educators can adapt to the specific professional contexts of their learners.

Practical Resources for VET Educators and Trainers

Together, the four modules provide educators with practical knowledge, tools and activities for addressing disinformation in educational settings.

The Training Package is also connected to the TackleDisInfo digital learning platform, where these topics and competences are further explored through an interactive learning environment.
